World Marrow Donor Association (WMDA) is an umbrella organization that represents national stem cell registries and individual umbilical cord blood banks, and accredits individual registries in accordance with an international standard for hematopoietic stem cell donor registries.
WMDA also manages the global database where HLA typings and other relevant information on potential stem cell donors and units of umbilical cord blood are registered anonymously. Transplant centers worldwide have access to the database and other services offered by WMDA.
